About Us
We are a small, home based cattery located in Napa California. Our cats live with us in our home and are a part of our day to day lives. Our kittens are raised with a variety of exposures to other cats, dogs, and people.
Our cattery is owned by Meaghan Duck MS DVM and spouse Nathan Harpe. We take health seriously and screen all of our breeding cats for HCM throughout their lives as well as performing genetic health screening panels and keeping record of blood types.
In addition to our cattery, we own and operate a small farm, Time Capsule Farms, in the rural Napa Valley area where we focus on heritage breeds of goats, sheep, cattle, pork, and poultry. We also work, breed, and show AKC Anatolian Shepherds, under the kennel name Mythos Anatolian Shepherds, that protect our livestock from predators that are abundant in the Napa Valley region. We are members of ACFA, TICA, ASDCA (AKC), ADGA, MDGA, and The Livestock Conservancy.
About British Shorthairs
Our love for the breed started with a desire to find a healthy, laid back, happy-go-lucky breed, and British Shorthairs are just that. They are one of the oldest pedigreed breeds, thought to date back to cats imported by the Roman Empire when they invaded Great Britain nearly 2,000 years ago.
They are an easy breed to live with and will enjoy following around your home. While they have their moments of energy, especially as kittens, they are often found lounging about our home. Although they are a breed that does not overly enjoy being held, they do bond strongly with their owners and often follow us around from room to room. As a result, they are not ideal for homes that spend a significant amount of time away or on routinely lengthy vacations. Due to their laid back nature, they do make good travelling companions, family cats, an low-maintenance adventure cats.
They have a dense, plush, crisp coat that requires minimal maintenance. They are a heavy shedding breed that requires routine brushing, but their coat is not prone to matting unless the cat is too heavy to groom itself properly. During shedding seasons (spring and fall), it is recommended to brush coats daily to reduce build up in your home.
British Shorthairs come in an extremely wide variety of colors, as well as the Longhair variant, but we primarily work with solid and bicolors of the following colors: black, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, red, and cream. In the future, we may work with tabbies, pointed, goldens, or silvers, but this is not currently a part of our breeding program.
